At first the President-elect presented Commissioner Mariya Gabriel’s portfolio as Youth and Innovation. Several culture and heritage stakeholders reacted strongly to the new portfolio name and urged von der Leyen to bring back culture in Gabriel’s title. NEMO was one of the organisations backing the campaign and the joint effort seemed to have given the desired effect.
